Gbafilo (Chrysobalanus icaco) is large, egg-shaped fruit with rough sandpaper-like surface .The kernel which shakes freely inside, is removed and ground for inclusion in pepper soups. The fruits are sold in the markets by traders from the Niger-Delta areas.
